Oxford University Press has offered trial access to the following databases, which will be available until the end of May 2025, either directly on campus or remotely via a VPN service.
JSTOR has announced that its interactive research tool will become available to institutional users starting March 26, 2025, at no additional cost. The tool utilizes artificial intelligence and other technologies to support research, enabling deeper analysis of JSTOR content and the discovery of new connections.

The Hungarian Academy of Sciences will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2025, and its members include many distinguished students and lecturers. Tivadar Pauler, who was a member of the academy from 1858, played a significant role in the development of the university and legal education. During his scientific work, he published nearly a hundred studies and founded several important institutions during his ministerial activities.
Emerald will host an English-language webinar on March 11, 2025, at 5 PM about their Emerald Premier service, presented by Radka Krivankova. The webinar will cover topics such as maximizing library subscriptions to Emerald journals, using the Emerald Insight platform, publishing with Emerald, basics of academic writing, and open access. Participation is free but requires registration.
The ELTE University Library and Archives will be closed from 15.00 on Wednesday 12 March 2025 until 14.00 on Thursday 13 March 2025 for technical reasons.
The Hungarian Academy of Sciences will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2025. Among its members are many distinguished students and teachers who have left their mark not only on the Academy but also on the history of our institution. Ferenc Toldy (1805–1875), literary historian, university professor and former director of our library, was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences from 1830.
The ELTE University Library and Archives, as a member of the international Coimbra Group (CG) Heritage Working Group, is pleased to invite all interested parties to the Coimbra Group webinar “AI Ethics and Governance” on Thursday 13 March 2025 from 15:00 to 16:30 CET, with keynote speaker Francesca Rossi, IBM Fellow and IBM AI Ethics Global Leader.
The Emerald publisher is offering trial access to its largest database (premier package) until March 31, 2025. The database, accessible via ELTE's local network or remotely through VPN, includes 13 modules, with 9 related to economics and others to healthcare, education, engineering, and information and knowledge management. This trial access is part of the EISZ offerings and can be subscribed to through EISZ.
ULA Savaria Library and Archives (Szombathely, Hungary)
On Monday, 24 February 2025, the ELTE Savaria Library and Archives will be open from 12.00 for the national written round of the National Peter Bod Library User Study Competition.
We are pleased to inform our dear readers that the relocation of the library's external warehouse has been completed, and the books and doctoral dissertations stored there are now available again.
The University History Collection holds around fifteen thousand frames, including negatives and paper photographs. The earliest images are from the 1880s, but most date from 1950 to 2000, depicting various university events and life. Digitised items are available in the ELTE Digital Institutional Knowledge Library, with a detailed report on the collection in the 2023 issue 4 of Archives Review by Georgina Schlay.
