Save a book, adopt it! Our book Ferenc Menyői Tolvaj: The Mastery of Arithmetic, presented in September, is one of the highlights of the book adoption program of the University Library Foundation.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, in 1773, Pope Clement XIII dissolved the Jesuit order, accelerating the process of the university's transfer to the state. Between 1635 and 1773, many distinguished Jesuits of great knowledge taught at our university, leaving a lasting mark on the history of the institution. In August our feature is on the first chronicler of the university’s history, Ferenc Kazy.

Save a book, adopt it! One of the most important works of Pavao Ritter Vitezović in our volume presented in August is "Stemmatography", which is one of the highlights of the book adoption program of the University Library Foundation.

The architectural history exhibition entitled "The Window to Rodostó" can be seen in Hungary this July in the area of the Gül Baba Cultural Center and Exhibition Hall. The exhibition also includes copies of the drawings of painter and draftsman Kálmán Beszédes made in Rodosto in 1891-92, which were included in our library as part of his legacy.

Between the 31st of July and the 2nd of September 2023, our library and the Eötvös Exhibition will be closed.

The ELTE University Library and Archives will be temporarily closed on the 13th and the 15th of July 2023 for technical reasons.

On the occasion of the 550th anniversary of the „Buda Chronicle”, our temporary exhibition offers an insight into the original version of the „Chronica Hungarorum” and the most unique publications in the history of printing.

Our series entitled „Mosaics from the heritage of ELTE” presents some of the key material cultural heritage of the Eötvös Loránd University. The object of the month is the Pável Memorial Room.

Save a book, adopt it! Our volume presented in July is the „Rex admirabilis […]” (Admirable king…) is the versified life of St. Ladislaus of Hungary (r. 1077–1095) in 50 eulogies by István Tarnóczy, which is one of the highlights of the book adoption program of the University Library Foundation.

According to our tradition, this year we joined the Night of Museums series of events, which included craft activities, concerts, guided tours, restoration and calligraphy workshops, as well as an exhibition entitled „Buda Chronicle 550”.

Our series entitled „Mosaics from the heritage of ELTE” presents some of the key material cultural heritage of the Eötvös Loránd University. The objects of the month are Gothard's transit instruments.

Jean-Noël Jeanneney, former director general of the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, former minister, historian, producer of France Culture and Jacqueline Plessis, language attaché of the French Institute in Budapest, accompanied by Dr. Vilmos Bárdosi, rector in charge of Francophone relations at ELTE, visited our library.

Due to the Night of Museums, the library services of the ELTE University Library and Archives will be inaccessible on Saturday, on the 24th of June 2023. Everyone is welcome to join our programmes starting at 15.00.

The ELTE University Library and Archives is launching an online information session for editors of ELTE journals on how to increase the international visibility of their journals. The following topics are included in the planned programme: strategies for meeting journal indexing criteria, recommendation for the order of database registrations, presentation of an online self-checking spreadsheet summarising the criteria for selecting journals for inclusion in databases, ethical publishing, authorship issues.

In a concert entitled „La storia d'un amore - fortuna, sfortuna e guarigione” (History of Love – Happiness, Misery and Healing), the talented artists of the Festival Academy Budapest Ensemble will perform on the 24th of June 2023 from 20.30 at the ELTE University Library and Archives.
