From late October 2026 until December 20, all members of the ELTE community will have free trial access to the Britannica Academic database, which offers a wide range of reliable, expert-vetted academic and educational content. In addition to entries, biographies, primary source documents, images, videos, and other multimedia materials, the platform provides advanced search, citation, and translation tools. The database can be accessed from within the university network or remotely via an ELTE VPN connection; we encourage you to take advantage of this trial period to explore the features and capabilities of the service.

EBSCO is offering a one-month trial access to some of its databases. The access gives ELTE citizens the opportunity to directly access the collections and to learn how journals are indexed, presented, and displayed.

The SAGE Research Methods database is available for trial access from April 30 to June 12, 2026, offering over 1,000 methodological resources from the social sciences. The collection is designed for both beginning and advanced researchers, and can be accessed remotely from an institutional network or via VPN.

Bentham Science Publishers is providing three-month trial access to its journals to EISZ member institutions, including ELTE, between April 1 and June 30. The publisher, which focuses on the fields of natural sciences, engineering and medicine, offers more than 130 journals indexed in international databases, which can be accessed from the ELTE network, via VPN or Shibboleth. During the trial period, Open Access publishing is also available to ELTE-affiliated authors, the conditions and technical details of which will be provided by the university library.

EBSCO is providing free access to the International Security & Counter-Terrorism Reference Center database to ELTE citizens from April 1 to April 30, 2026. The collection contains comprehensive intelligence and security resources, including articles, reports, and books on the topics of terrorism, homeland security, and risk analysis.

Springer Nature is hosting a webinar titled „From Indexing to Impact” on 19 March 2026, to help researchers better understand research evaluation systems and the social impact of scientific work. The event will cover several important topics, from the importance of indexing to ethical issues and recent developments, and participation is required.

Emerald Publishing House provides free access to two of its collections to ELTE citizens with institutional (Shibboleth) login between March 1 and April 30, 2026. The list of open journals is available on the Library and Information Studies Collection and Emerald Education pages.

Gale Publishing is providing ELTE citizens with full access to the Gale Academic OneFile database, which can be accessed with an institutional (Shibboleth) login, until 1 May 2026. The collection contains more than 19,000 journal articles from many scientific fields, including biology, medicine, economics, environmental science, psychology, and literature. The database is accessible via a direct link and offers extensive research resources for ELTE students and faculty.

Wiley is hosting an English-language webinar for researchers, faculty and students from EISZ consortium member institutions, providing practical guidance on successful Open Access publishing. Participants will learn about the benefits of Open Access publishing, the opportunities provided by the Wiley Read & Publish agreement, and receive advanced tips from manuscript preparation to the review process. The event will conclude with a Q&A session, and participation is subject to prior registration.
