Utolsó módosítás: 2012-11-22 12:36

The rich multidisciplinary collection of the Manuscript and Rare Books Collection of the Budapest University Library – it has had a separate place within the library since the middle of the 19th century –has been an important academic study and research place of Hungarian and European cultural history.  The collection documents the history of a cultural region struggling with hardships as part of the European cultural legacy. The relatively extensive and exceptionally valuable holdings of the Manuscript and Rare Books Collection are indispensable for international research. The Collection that has become indispensable within the framework of the university has not only collected and preserved a significant amount of important sources of knowledge and information essential for learning about natural sciences and humanities, but it also plays a daily role as the embodiment of cultural memory in acknowledging the historicity of Hungarian society at all times.
